AXL's SRO Classic Wins Best in Show at Summer NAMM 2011!

The new AXL USA guitars got a lot of attention at Summer NAMM 2011. The SRO Classic was awarded NAMM's Best-in-Show honors, standing out in a field crowded with great products. It's our version of a true American original - an unbeatable combination of American assembly and awesome value in a guitar that's ready for the stage, right out of the box.

Hand-assembled at our workshop in Hayward, CA, the SRO Classic is simply the best value on the market for a handmade instrument. The solid alder body and maple neck with rosewood fretboard provide the perfect foundation for our luthiers to go to work. We hand press every fret with some of the highest quality fretwire available; then level and dress them for flawless playing in any register. Our great-sounding AXL Alnico single coils give players classic vintage-style sound in any position on the 5-way switch. CTS pots are connected by cloth-covered wire, and Orange Drop capacitors give a creamy, classic tone.

We finish the SRO Classic with a Graph Tech Tusq XL nut, Grover mini-Rotomatic tuners and a finish unlike any other available; all you need to do is plug in and play - the sound and feel are truly unheard of at this price.

AXL SETS A NEW STANDARD FOR GUITAR VALUE AND MOVES ASSEMBLY TO THE USA

We’re making AXL guitars like never before: With the AXL USA series, we’ve taken some of the world’s best components and built each guitar by hand in California.

The American AXL 1216 (AL-1120) features Seymour Duncan Seth Lover pickups - one of the most authentic sounding PAF-style humbuckers made today - co-designed by Seymour Duncan and the inventor of the humbucker, Seth Lover. Under the hood, CTS pots are connected by cloth-covered wire, just like the famed original guitars that inspired this version. We use Orange Drop capacitors and feature a unique “volume kit” that keeps the treble frequencies at the same level the player desires even when the volume pot itself is rolled off.

TonePros’ tune-o-matic bridge and tailpiece are used to get the most tone and sustain possible, as well as the added convenience of the TonePros locking mechanisms. We hand press every fret with some of the highest quality fretwire available; we level and dress them for flawless playing in any register. Add features like a solid mahogany body and set neck, Grover Rotomatic tuners, and a Graph Tech Tusq XL nut, and this guitar is 100% stage ready right out of the box.

The AL-1020 model features all of the above but substitutes AXL Alnico pickups and is offered at a lower cost with factory bridge/tailpiece and no “volume kit.”

The American AXL SRO is our version of a true American classic - an unbeatable combination of world-class components and American assembly.

The Seymour Duncan Five-Two pickups on the AS-1120 model are a unique mix of Alnico 2 magnets on the treble strings for warmth and a softer attack, and Alnico 5 magnets on the bass strings for punch and brightness. Our “Super-7 switching” utilizes a push-pull pot to engage the bridge pickup regardless of switch position - adding two more pickup combinations for even more versatile tone shaping. CTS pots are connected by cloth-covered wire, and Orange Drop capacitors give a creamy, classic tone.

We use a true-vintage-style bent-saddle bridge and TonePros Kluson tuning machines for the proper weight and sound just like the instruments from the 1950s. We hand press every fret with some of the highest quality fretwire available; then level and dress them for flawless playing in any register.

Combine all of those parts with a solid alder body and maple neck with a rosewood fretboard, a Graph Tech Tusq XL nut, and a finish unlike any other available; all you need to do is plug in and play - the sound and feel are truly unheard of at this price.

The AS-1020 model features all of the above but substitutes AXL Alnico pickups and is offered at a lower cost with standard 5-way switching and Grover mini-Rotomatic tuners.

AXL INTRODUCES THE ALL-NEW MJZ: RETRO GUITARS PACKED WITH VALUE

AXL is excited to introduce our all-new MJZ body shape with P-90’s in both standard and Badwater finishes. For dealers who want to add some unique retro flavor to their guitar walls and for players who appreciate classic looks and the gritty tone of P-90 pickups, the MJZ delivers a breath of fresh air.

With a solid alder body and a rock maple neck, the MJZ starts with a tried-and-true foundation. We build on that with 2 overwound Alnico P-90 pickups controlled by a 3-way switch. Magazines everywhere have been blown away by the sound of our pickups, and these P-90’s are some of the hottest that we put on our guitars.

The offset body design is available in Lake Placid blue, sunburst and metallic silver with matching headstock. The tortoise pickguard and bound headstock give the MJZ an unmistakable vintage vibe. We’re also offering it in two of our best-selling Badwater finishes, off-white and antique brown. Add other classic design features like a tremolo bridge, rosewood fretboard, and 25-1/2” scale length, and the MJZ delivers the look and tone players want at a price they can’t resist.
